‘Villa Taboo’ is a concept for a detective point and click adventure game. It is meant to be a fun and engaging experience for people from the ages 9 and up. In the game the player takes on the roll of Zoey, a young and eager woman who has just opened her very own detective agency, and is ready to take on her first case.
Zoey receives an anonymous letter from a resident of Villa Taboo, a gigantic secluded mansion at the edge of town. The writer is begging you to come to the villa and help her, and her 3 sisters, find their missing sister, Liv. However when arriving at the villa, nobody admits to having sent a letter and asking for help. The player has to solve puzzles, collect and use items, and win over the trust of the 4 sisters, to find the missing fifth.
On this page you’ll find some art I’ve created for my conceptual game such as backgrounds, stills from the trailer, characters, and concept art.
The residents of Villa Taboo are the five orphaned sisters, each one based on a different aspect of a personality such as; emotion, ratio, peace of mind, creativity and anxiety. The names and colour palettes of the characters are all inspired by their visualized personality aspect. Can you find out which sister belongs to which trait? :)
In order to visualize my concept, I have chosen to create a game trailer. This was partly so that I could practice animation once again, something that I enjoy very much, but do to little of. Below you’ll find some short clips of animation experiments I’ve done for my trailer.
